Position Overview: We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers to join our team as Computer Trainers for our Digital Inclusion Programmes. As a volunteer Computer Trainer, you will play a key role in delivering computer training sessions to community members who may have limited access to technology or digital skills. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact by helping individuals build confidence in using computers, navigating the internet, and mastering essential digital skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct computer training sessions for participants of varying skill levels, including beginners and intermediate learners.
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials tailored to the needs and interests of participants.
- Teach basic computer skills such as using Libre Office applications, internet browsing, email communication, and online safety.
- Provide hands-on assistance and guidance to participants during training sessions.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment that encourages participation and collaboration.
- Offer personalised support to address individual learning needs and challenges.
- Monitor participant progress and adjust teaching methods as needed to ensure effective learning outcomes.
- Assist with the setup and maintenance of computer equipment and software used in training sessions.
- Collaborate with other volunteers and staff members to coordinate program activities and resources.
- Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge of digital literacy topics.
Qualifications:
- Passion for promoting digital inclusion and empowering individuals through technology.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Patient, supportive, and empathetic approach to teaching and learning.
- Basic to intermediate proficiency in using computers and common software applications.
- Previous experience in teaching, tutoring, or training is desirable but not required.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently with minimal supervision.
- Reliable and punctual, with a commitment to fulfilling volunteer responsibilities.
Time Commitment:
- Volunteers are expected to commit to a minimum of 3-4 hours per week.
- Training sessions are typically held remotely, with some flexibility based on volunteer availability.
- The duration of the volunteer commitment is 6 months, with opportunities for ongoing involvement or employment based on performance, interest and availability.
