In 2026, Good Things Foundation brought together the National Digital Inclusion Network, community organisations, local authorities, libraries, NHS trusts, and housing providers, to identify what AI policy and literacy support actually needs to cover. Our AI Policy Confidence workshop is already built around the same five rules their network independently arrived at:
- Human in the loop: every AI-assisted document, email, or piece of code is reviewed by a person
- Protect sensitive data: never input personal or sensitive information into open, free AI models
- Be transparent: declare when and how AI has been used
- Define approved tools: clearly list which AI platforms staff and volunteers may use
- Align with your values: weigh accessibility, digital inclusion, and environmental impact, not just capability
Our AI Literacy sessions use the same real, relatable use cases the network identified as what actually works, drafting a formal letter, translating for someone new to the country, or turning a photo of your fridge into a budget meal plan, not abstract AI theory.
